SCMM 2016 - 21 KM half Marathon

Hi Friends,

After recovering from fever with adequate rest and medicine with GOD grace I was able to finish Half Marathon in 2:38:53. Just sharing with you my story for this marathon. Last night i was excited so was not getting sleep. This usually happens day before marathon. I slept at 11 PM.

I woke up at 3:13 AM. Had brushed the teeth had apple arranged my belongings Wore my Running shoes and heads off at 4.00 AM in my car with my friend Virendra. I reached Holding area at Worli dairy at 4.35 AM. My friend Virendra took my car and he heads towards home. I reached Holding area after submitting my baggage and security check at 4.45 AM. I did starching for 5 minutes and took sit in lobby was eagerly  waiting to start gun to be fired. At 5.20 Am I took Amino acid THE FUEL TO MY BODY. It is very important to give your body protein before run. 5.40 AM sharp Gun fired. I passed start line around 5.45 AM. Started running on worli sea face and than moved towards Sea link it was great experience. I took first ship of water at 5 KM at sea link end at bandra from there we took U-turn again enjoyed sea link course for another 5 KM. At 8 KM I refilled body with couple of ship of slats. Salts intake is very important it will help muscle to avoid cramps. You will not get vertigo. But CAUTION if you feel PALPITATION avoid salt.

I kept running people were cheering us at worli sea face and near Atria mall junctions. Small kids motivating runner by screaming RUN MUMBAI RUN. They were distributing biscuits and chocolates but I avoided it. At Haji Ali junction people were cheering runners and 15 KM run completed. Now hell of padder road fly over was about to start. In all marathon I walked on this path. But this time I told to self I do not want walk instead I want to run. I kept running on hilly path. I developed palpitation. Heart beat was increased and my artery in right hand was moving like Engine. It was body call to slowdown I reduced my pace at padder road fly over and managed palpitation. NEVER IGNORE BODY CALL. IT MAY CAUSE FATAL CONDITION. After descending at Kemps corner fly over I again refilled body with salts till that time I avoided slats. It was stip decent so controlling pace to avoid knee injury. I kept running  crossed 18 KM mark at Charni Road. After that I took first walk for few meters. I passed though cool zone. it was fun. Rock music was played on both side of roads to keep runners pushing themselves as now it was only 3 KM to go.

Now mental game started mind was saying take big walk but self was not getting agreed to mind call.I kept running. Was trying to push self but was unable to gain pace. So again i took walk few meters after 19 Km and i saw 1000 meters remained. I committed my self i am not going to take walk now till i reached the finish line. Usually i used to take multiple walks in last KM in earlier marathon. I crossed finished line with photo finish posture with pushing very hard when 100 meters remained.After race walked towards refreshment zone at Azad Maidan. I took refreshment kit and finished medal. I felt proud despite poor health condition for one week God helped me to finish race without any hurdle. Just got little pain in knee and calf. THANK YOU GOD. THANK YOU FRIENDS for good wishes. I want to share below what was my personal best in this race.

1) I ran non-stop for 18 KM. in the past i ran non stop in Powai run for 10 KM only. I removed the mental block than I can't run above 10 KM without walk.
2) I ran hell path Peddar road fly over without walk as in earlier races i preferred to walk on this course.
3) In last 1000 meter not taken walk.
